Tripura will go the assembly election on February 14 and it will be the first election of the year. Polls will be held in all 60 constituencies of the state. The Left Front has been in power for twenty years at a stretch and the Oppoistion, Congress, will be trying to topple it to regain power after 1993.
The current chief minister, Manik Sarkar, is in power since 1998 when he had replaced Dasarath Deb. He was sworn in for the fourth term in 2008. Can Sarkar, considered one of the most humble CMs in the country, extend the stretch of his government? The results of the election will be announced on February 28, along with the results in Meghalaya and Nagaland, the two north-eastern states going to the polls on February 23.
