The first communist ruled state of Independent India, Kerala had a photo finish. Though Congress-led UDF government won the race marginally, there was nothing for them to cheer about. The result left the LDF thinking, “If we would have worked a bit harder”.

Oommen Chandy was crowned the new Chief Minister of the state. With a lean majority of 4 seats in the state assembly, a difference in opinion with any of their allies will see the Congress out of power.

Heavy turnout in re-polling in TN, Kerala

Chennai/Thiruvananthapuram, April 17: Over 80 per cent voters exercised their franchise in re-polling in eight polling booths in Tamil Nadu and two in Kerala on Saturday.

The re-poll was ordered in view of malfunctioning of EVMs at some places and minor skirmishes in certain areas during the Assembly polls in both states on April 13.

In Tamil Nadu, 81.3 per cent of voters cast their votes in eight polling booths in six constituencies, while in Kerala, 80.5 and 72.28 per cent.....

Chennai, April 13: The decisive day for the electorate in Tamil Nadu and Kerala has arrived as the states go to poll to elect the next government, that will be at the helm of affairs for the next five years.
