The Orissa Vigilance Department made an allegation on Sep 28, 2011 against B Pravakaran, Managing Director of Triveni Earth Movers alleging him of taking illegal control over 10 major iron ore mines in Orissa from last eight years, which could have caused a loss of Rs 3 lakh crore to the exchequer.

The state vigilance department for illegal mining has already charge-sheeted five mining companies and Sirajuddin Mines, Rungta Mines and the Indrani Patnaik Mines are three among them. Lokpal alone cannot root out corruption: Ribeiro

Panaji, Nov 3: Former Mumbai Commissioner Julio Ribeiro has said that Lokpal legislation alone was not enough to end corruption in the society. Rebeiro was speaking in a debate on corruption organised by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) here yesterday. The former super cop, known for his stint in Punjab police said that several holistic measures were needed to weed out the menace of corruption and the issue has to be sufficiently addressed at the grassroots......

Engg Students robbed and harassed by Goa cops

Bangalore, Nov 2: A group of engineering students were robbed by two Goa policemen on the Baga beach. The cops threatened them that if they complain against them, then the cops would file a false case against the students and put them behind the bars.

The students told the police that they were not carrying any liquor or cigarettes, when the police didn't find anything objectionable then they demanded for cash.
