Maverick artist and the most prominent figure in Indian Contemporary Art, Maqbool Fida Husain, popularly called M F Hussain died of lung congestion at 95.

MF Husain, famously know as the Picasso of India was on a self-imposed exile living in Qatar. He left India after facing serious life threats for his bold portrayal of Hindu goddesses. Particularly, he garnered the ire of right-wing groups on a large-scale.

Modern masters M F Husain, Sabavala in online auction

New Delhi, Sep 13: Artworks executed by MF Husain and Jehangir Sabavala, two stalwart Indian artists who passed away this year are up for grabs at the Saffronart online autumn auction later this month.

Out of the 70 works by 32 artists availaible in the September 21-22 auction, nine are by Husain and two by Sabavala.

Other modern artists featured include S H Raza and Arpita Singh.

Works by contemporary artists like Atul Dodiya, Shibu Natesan, Anju.....

MF Husain to be buried at Brookwood cemetery

London, June 10: Sticking to legendary Indian painter Maqbool Fida Husain's last wishes, his family will lay him to rest at the Brookwood cemetery at Woking in Surrey, on the city's outskirts later today (June 10).

Husain's body, was kept at Idara-e-Jaaferiya, a funeral Parlour at Tooting, to facilitate the public to pay their last homage to the renowned painter.

According to his family sources, the namaz-i-janaza will be held at 12.45 pm followed by Friday prayers before moving his body.....

PM condoles M F Husain's demise

New Delhi, Jun 9: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (June 8) condoled the death of celebrated Indian artist M F Husain in London, terming it as a "national loss".

In his condolence message, the Prime Minister termed Husain's demise as a national loss.

Husain,95, who earned both fame and wrath for his paintings, died in London today after being unwell for over a month. PTI.....
