People, especially all Punjabis began their day with happy lohri sms, lohri greetings, messages, and sending lohri quotes and poems.

Lohri is the festival to worship fire. People gather around bonfire and throw puffed rice, til, popcorn into the flame. The festival is believed to be important for all newly married couple and infants.

Prayers are offered to the bonfire seeking abundance and prosperity. People celebrate the occation by dancing and singing traditional folk songs.

The punjabi people eagerly wait for this family get-together and lavish dinners with sarson ka saag and makki ki roti.
