The city of joy faced calamitous fire that swept through the floor of south Kolkata's AMRI hospital, the devastating fire consumed around 150 lives on Dec 9, 2011. The incident was more heartbreaking as most of the victims were patients.

Few months back, the fire service department had inquired the hospital and asked it to upgrade its fire safety mechanism. The hospital didn't follow the mechanism and the flammable materials turned into a dreadful incident. The six top bosses of AMRI hospitals are under police custody.

Two AMRI officers remanded in judicial custody

Kolkata, Dec 26: A city court today (Dec 26) sent two officers of AMRI Hospital, where 93 people died in a fire, to judicial custody till January five. Chief Judicial Magistrate of Alipore court S M Shahnawaz sent Sanjib Pal and S Upadhayay, who were in police custody, to judicial custody on a prayer by the prosecution. Pal declined to give a statement before the court despite earlier expressing a desire to do so. Six directors of AMRI Hospital --.....

Major fire at building in Andheri MIDC in Mumbai

Mumbai, Dec 23: A major fire broke out at Akruti Trade Centre, a commercial complex housing a number of corporate offices in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in suburban Andheri late evening on Dec 23. According to chief fire officer H N Mujawar, the fire started at a canteen located on the sixth floor of the building and soon spread on the seventh floor. Over 15 fire engines were rushed to the spot.....
