Famous Ghazal singer passed away on Oct 10, 2011. He breathed his last at the Lilavati hospital. He was hospitalised after he suffered from a deadly brain haemorrhage. He was aged 70.

Jagjit Singh can easily be referred to as a person who popularised Ghazals in India and is largely credited to have brought ghazals into Bollywood mainstream songs. His songs had haunting quality to them and his melodies were famous for its purity and innocence. Notable among his film career were his role as a music director in movies Arth and Saath Saath.

He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2003. He was born in Rajasthan on February 8, 1941.

Rahat signs off from India, after paying fine

New Delhi, Feb 23: Pakistan singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who was detained by the DRI with USD 1.24 lakh undeclared currency, has left the country after paying a fine of Rs.15 lakh.

Official sources said Khan left by an Emirates flight to Lahore via Dubai yesterday evening.

Khan and his manager Maroof had on Monday paid Rs 15 lakh each by way of penalty slapped on them in connection with the huge amount of undeclared foreign currency recovered from them. Read More

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to face DRI's music today

New Delhi, Feb 17: A new thorn has emerged between India and Pakistan in the form of the arrest of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. This incident is expected to sour the already fragile relationship between both the countries. Rahat has been summoned by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today (Feb 17).
