Former Telecom Minister, 86-year-old Sukhram was held guilty of misusing his official position during his tenure as Telecom Minister in awarding a contract worth Rs 30 crore to private firm Haryana Telecom Limited (HTL) to supply 3.5 Lakh Conductor Kilometers (LCKM) of Polythene Insulated Jelly Filled (PIJF) cables to the telecom department.

He has been awarded five-year imprisonment and was lodged in Tihar jail in Nov 2011. [Read: Sukhram and Raja will be in same jail in Tihar]

CBI estimates illegal mining by OMC led to loss of Rs 5,100 cr

Hyderabad, Dec 23: The CBI told a local court that illegal mining allegedly involving Obulapuram Mining Company owned by former Karnataka minister G Janardhana Reddy had resulted in a loss of Rs 5,100 crore to the state exchequer. The agency which filed a chargesheet in the case against Reddy and four others on Dec 3, told the CBI Special Court that by no means it was a small case in terms of financial loss to the government. Bellary: Another land scam against Reddys & Sriramulu

Bangalore, Dec 10: Janardhan Reddy along with his other family members and close aide - Sriramulu have been slapped with an another land scam allegation. This time, an NGO - The National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) hurled the attack on the mining barons.The NGO accused Reddys and the former BJP Minister of Karnataka, Sriramulu of acquiring about 251 acres of agricultural land illegally. The disputed land is in and around Bellary, Reddys' place where they allegedly have scattered their illegal.....

Kumaraswamy hopes BJP govt in state will fall on its own

Bangalore, Dec 7: JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has raised the voice against the BJP government in the state and said that the ruling party in the state will fall anytime following their stunning defeat in the Bellary by poll. He has also asked his party workers to prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Talking to reporters after meeting party leaders, Kumaraswamy said, "The government will fall anytime and we (JD(S)) should be ready to face the election."
