Dorjee Khandu's death was one of the greatest tragedies of Assam, that 2011 recorded. The state CM was killed in a major helicopter crash. 56-year-old Khandu, who had served in the intelligence wing of the army, was the fifth Chief Minister of the state.

After four days of massive search, the wreckage of the chopper along with five bodies were found at Lobothang.

Mumbai, Dec 17: Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, who was detained in Mumbai airport for carrying gold and diamond jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh, has been asked to pay a penalty of Rs 4 lakh for evasion of duty on the jewelry and dutiable goods.The actress has to pay Rs 3 lakh fine, Rs 95,000 as penalty to claim the jewellery which she brought while returning from Cannes Film Festival in May 2011.Ms Lamba also has to pay an additional penalty of Rs.....

Justice Katju slams media on Dev Anand coverage

New Delhi, Dec 7: Press Council of India chairman Justice Markandey Katju strongly criticised media for providing front page coverage of actor Dev Anand's death.

Justice Katju said that media should cover social and economic issues which have greater importance than a bollywood actor's death and termed such media coverage as "lack of sense of priority".

Moreover, Katju urged media to cover farmer suicide issues in India. He said that 2.5 lakh farmers had committed suicide in the last fifty.....

Bhupen Hazarika critical, admitted in ICU, kept on dialysis

Guwahati, Nov 2: Famous singer, Bhupen Hazarkia has been hospitalised and on dialysis, said reports.

The singer is currently hospitalised in the ICU ward, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.

"He is not as energetic as he was a few weeks ago. He developed breathing problems on Tuesday. I must say his condition has deteriorated," said Jayanta Narayan Saha, in-charge of media relations at the hospital.
