Anwar al-Awlaki, was yet another high-profile takedown of terror leaders by US forces since the raid of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, in Pakistan.

On Sep 30, 2011 CIA led drone attack in Yemen killed al-Qaeda leader Awlaki and another US-born militant.

This takedown was touted as a major milestone in fight on terrorism led by US. According to reports two predator drones doing rounds on al-Awlaki's convoy fired the Hellfire missiles which eliminated the terrorist leader.

With Awlaki's death, 2011 was a significant year for America, especially for Barack Obama's presidency as two high-profile threat of USA was eliminated. However, Osama raid was one of the sharp blow on the head of al-Qaeda group.

US neared Taliban deal, but Karzai vetoed it: report

Washington, Dec 24:  The US had reached a tentative deal with Taliban to allow, among other things, transfer of five Afghans from the Guantanamo Bay prison in lieu of their public renunciation of terrorism, but the agreement failed to take off because of Hamid Karzai's objections. US puts drone strikes inside Pak on hold: Report

Washington, Dec 20: The US has put its covert air campaign that targets al-Qaeda and Taliban operatives in Pakistan's tribal agencies "on hold", in the wake of strained ties between the two countries.Several US intelligence officials involved in the CIA programme, which uses unmanned Predator and Reaper strike aircraft, more commonly called drones, said the strikes were on hold due to fears that an attack at this point in time would further damage the already fragile relationship, the The Long War Journal reported.But the.....
