The scandal relating to the allotment of second-generation mobile telephony spectrum, which led to an estimated loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore was still much debated issue in both houses of Parliament in 2011. It brought everyone from former Telecom Minister A Raja to DMK MP Kanimozhi behind the bars.

2G: RCom denies using Swan Telecom as a front to get licence

New Delhi, Aug 10: Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Telecom Ltd, on Aug 10 told a Delhi court that it did not have any substantial equity in Swan Telecom at the time of grant of spectrum licences. Reliance Telecom Ltd is one of the accused firms in the 2G Spectrum scandal.

The Reliance Telecom counsel told Special CBI judge, "No criminal case is made out against Reliance Telecom Ltd (RTL) as it held only 9.9 per cent equity in Swan Telecom when the latter.....

Montek Singh Ahluwalia vouches for the PM's integrity

New Delhi, Aug 8: After being cornered by the Opposition parties and the Civil society over the various corruption issues that have plagued his government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has found a credible voice to vouch for his integrity. And that one is of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.

Joshi's fresh bid to make PAC take up 2G report

New Delhi, Aug 7: Public Accounts Committee Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on Aug 6 made a fresh attempt to make the panel take up his controversial report on the 2G scam that had questioned the role of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

Joshi circulated the report to the PAC members with a forwarding letter that he was sending them the draft report again after consulting legal experts, rules of procedures and "past precedents".
