Rishad Premji, more than just a successor

One of the largest IT company of India, Wipro is going to have Rishad Premji as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) from Jan 1, 2011.



33-year-old Rishad has done his graduation from Wesleyan University, Connecticut. Later he completed his MBA degree from the Harvard Business School.

Rishad joined Wipro in Jul 2007 as the sub-general manager level at the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance vertical.

Then he was promoted as the general manager (treasury and investor relations) of the software company.

Before joining Wipro, Rishad worked in GE Capital, an international diversified financing solution provider to the customer and then he joined consulting firm Bain & Co.

Like his father, Rishad is also known as the hard working and approachable person, who prefers mostly to maintain a low profile.

Though Azim Premji once said that he would not like to turn Wipro as family business, but Rishad was always keen to join his father's business.

He is not among those lucky kins, who get all kinds of facilities just with the help of a big surname.

Like the million of job hunters, Rishad also had to send in his resume and he managed to find a placement in his dream company, Wipro.

Another quality of Rishad similar to his father is that he too reads quite a lot and he prefers books mostly relating to management. Although a Muslim, a visit to the temple is a must for Rishad too.

Rishad has been one of the most desirable bachelor after Rahul Gandhi in India. But it ended in 2005 when he got married to his childhood sweetheart, Aditi.

The low-key wedding, held at the Taj Palace, Mumbai, was a very quiet family affair.

He is also known as an ardent party-lover, he was spotted on several occasions at trendy night spots in Bangalore along with Aditi.

Like his brothers, Rishad is also known to be as mamma's boy and he appreciates his father as an icon.
