Stop global warming, save Earth

We all know that global warming is affecting the Earth in a big way. The polar ice caps, glaciers, the world is melting before our eyes and our natural systems are already beginning to break down. We need to stop this before it gets out of control.

Let us first understand how global warming is affecting our planet Earth. Emission of green house gases carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide into the atmosphere resulted in the depletion of Ozone layer, which is protecting the planet from Sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. This result in the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans over time.



Our changed life style and burning of fossil fuel carelessly, digging bore well and squeezing out the ground water all are adding to the destruction of Earth. Cutting down trees resulting in the reduction of forest, endangers the animal habitat. All these to add to the Global warming.

The Great Lakes, which was once considered as the largest fresh water body in the planet is said to be declining with no end in sight. The global warming has affected largely the Midwest countries as they use concentration of old, dirty coal plants that produce large amounts of carbon dioxide.

The only solution of global warming is to reduce the emission of CO2 i.e Carbon Dioxide. It will help in reduction of harmful pollutants that poison our lakes, make our land infertile and harm human health. Yet another way is to make our energy and transportation systems more efficient, protect our forest ecosystems, wildlife and biodiversity, and improve our air quality and protect peoples’ health. It is in each individual's hand to take up the initiative. A single day cannot do wonders and save the Earth. It need a massive effort. Let us start now.
