New Delhi, Feb 16: After six months since Geetika Sharma committed suicide, it is her mother Anuradha who killed herself in their family house at Ashok Vihar in New Delhi on Friday, Feb 15.
In her suicide note, mother of Geetika, a former air-hostess wrote, "Geetika's death is responsible for my death. And Aruna Chaddha and Gopal Kanda are responsible for hers."
"We found a suicide note in the house. Anuradha Sharma was depressed. The note says Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chaddha were responsible for Geetika's death," said P Karunakaran, DCP, northwest.
Since the trial began in the abetting Geetika's suicide, Geetika's family had been alleging that Kanda was pressurising them to withdraw the complaint against him. Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, who was found dead at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi on August 5, 2012, had in her suicide note said that she was ending her life due to 'harassment' by Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha, co-accused in the case.
They both have, however, denied the charge. The police have alleged that Kanda was obsessed with Geetika. In 2006, she joined his airline, MDLR, when she was in her teens.
After the airline closed, she moved to Dubai to work with Emirates Airlines. According to Geetika's family, Kanda allegedly forged letters to ensure her return to India and blackmailed her to work for him.
