'Hang juvenile rapist'

New Delhi, Jan 29: Father of the brutal Delhi gang-rape episode has expressed disappointment after Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board said that the sixth rapist was a minor and can't be tried with other five accused.

With the decision of JJ Board, it seems that the sixth accused will go scot-free in few months for now. Or, he has to stay for three years in a remand home.

The father of the Delhi gang-rape victim has demanded capital punishment for all the six rapists, who repeatedly raped and murdered the 23-year-old women in a moving bus in the national capital on Dec 16, 2012. The victim died in a Singapore hospital on Dec 29, 2012.

"Sazaa kisi sey kam nahin honaa chahiye, chahey woh juvenile hai ya kuchh bhi hai (the punishment should not be less even if he is a juvenile)," Delhi gang-rape victim's father said.

He said the punishment should be equal for all. "Sab ko barabar. Barabar maney phansi (same punishment for all, in other words death sentence)," he said.

The victim's family said they would challenge the "unfortunate" decision of the Juvenile Justice Board to treat him as a minor.

Meanwhile, the girl's brother said over phone, "The family would consult legal experts and challenge the matter in the relevant court."

"The family is not ready to accept that the sixth accused get anything less than death penalty," he said, adding, the minor accused should also get the same punishment of death penalty for which the central government should make necessary changes in the law.
