Soldiers are victims of insensitiveness

New Delhi, Jan 10: There is no respect for human lives in the sub-continent. Apart from routine official use of words and protocol neither the army or the politicians made any effort to send a message that killings of soldiers are not acceptable.

Military experts, unfortunately, termed the death of the Pakistani and Indian soldiers as merely "all in a days work" for the soldiers along the Line of Control. For the army, such events weren't uncommon "though it hasn't got quite so much media attention".

Indian Foreign Minister Salaman Khurshid too used official words and said that New Delhi's response would be "proportionate" and senior government and military officials would decide a course of action over the "ghastly" incident. No words of sympathy and regret over the deaths.

Even Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar did not offer any words to the families of the dead, both Pakistani and Indian soldiers families, while denying Pakistan's hand in the killings of Lance Naiks - Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh. She used the incident to push for Pakistani agenda of bringing a third party to probe to verify the claims if 'India doesn't believe in its inquiry'. India has always opposed any third party mediation.

The minister said that Pakistan was ready for an independent investigation by the United Nations. She also suggested that since the supposed attack had happened on the Indian territory, the Indian agencies should investigate it first.

If the politicians make it loud and clear that loss of human life, especially the soldiers, is unacceptable we could see less conflict and tragedy in jawan's household.
