Hyderabad, Jan 3: The Hyderabad police were today ordered to investigate a complaint filed by a city-based businessman against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly making "hate speech" against a particular community.
The 4th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate directed the Osmania University Police to investigate the complaint under section 156 (3) of CrPc and file a report before it on January 28. The order was issued on a complaint filed by businessman S Venkatesh Goud.
Goud had filed a complaint before the court alleging that the Chandrayangutta legislator had given "highly provocative and derogatory" speech against majority community, which was telecast on a local television channel on December 8 and 9. The video is also available on Youtube.
The court in its order observed that all the allegations as mentioned in the complaint and reportedly recorded on a CD need to be thoroughly investigated. Another petition against Owaisi will be heard later in the day.
In New Delhi, social activist Shabnam Hashmi has filed a complaint in Delhi's Parliamnet Street Police Station against Akbaruddin Owaisi for his ‘highly inflammatory speech.' She also brought to the notice of the police that the speech is available on youtube and is being circulated on the Facebook extensively.
"The whole speech is highly objectionable, inflammatory against the Hindu religion and against our cultural heritage. It is a strong attack on the values of our constitution, democracy and secular values. Such obnoxious speeches divide society, vitiate peace and lead to conflicts and riots," the complaint said.
