Mumbai, Nov 21: Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab was hanged till death at Yerwada jail in Pune around 7.30 am on Wednesday, Nov 21. Government maintained silence till Kasab's execution was completed. Now, the family members of 2008 Mumbai terror attacks victims are miffed with the government that Kasab was not hanged in public.
The common contention is that Kasab mercilessly killed innocent people. Hence, he should have been killed in public to deliver justice to the victims' families.
Even Tukaram Omble's brother wanted Kasab to be hanged in public. Omble was the biggest hero of 26/11. The Assistant Sub-Inspector of Mumbai was responsible for the capture of LeT terrorist Kasab alive. His brother Eknath Omble welcomed the government decision to hang Kasab, saying a terrorist like him should have been hanged in public.
"My family is happy. Through you, I had appealed to President Pranab Mukherjee. I am glad that today the President and the Home minister took the right decision. A terrorist like Kasab should have been hanged in public," he said.
The Maharashtra Home Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks convict Kasab was hanged at 7.30 am at Pune's Yerwada jail. President Pranab Mukherjee had rejected his mercy plea on Nov 8, said Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil.
