Mumbai, Nov 13: General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Digvijay Singh might not have thought that his statement over Arvind Kejriwal and Bollywood item girl Rakhi Sawant would drag him to court. If sources are to be believed then the veteran Congress leader might have to pay Rs 50 crore as fine to Rakhi. [Update: Now, Digvijay Singh to entertain Rakhi Sawant]
Rakhi, who earlier had stated that she would file a defamation case against Digvijay, moved Mumbai police commissioner and state home department secretary and submitted a letter.
Rakhi, in her letter, sought legal action against the Congress leader by registering a complaint against Digvijay who allegedly had attacked her "noble character".
Senior inspector of Goregaon police station, Arun Jadhav on Monday, Nov 12 said, "We have received her written complaint and we have not yet registered a case. We will seek a legal opinion from experts and take a decision after that."
Meanwhile, Rakhi's lawyer Ejaz Naqvi stated, "Sawant is a professional artist, renowned stage performer and a social worker. Such remarks have damaged her public image."
Digvijay earlier on Sunday had compared social activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal with Rakhi.
Digvijay, who always hogs the limelight with his bombastic statements, had tweeted, "Arvind Kejriwal is like Rakhi Sawant. They both try and expose but with no substance. Apologies to Rakhi Sawant I am an old fan of hers !"
Digvijay's comment comes after Kejriwal's recent exposes involving Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and his alleged irregularities in DLF deals to the latest one targeting richest industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani and many others.
