Aston Villa vs Manchester United Preview

Birmingham, Nov 10: History is not on Aston Villa's side when they host Manchester United at Villa Park on Saturday as the Villans last beat United at home back in 1995.

Premier League results report - Game Week 11

However, Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the winner at Old Trafford back in 2009, Villa's only win in 33 league games against the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, top of the table with 24 points, Sir Alex Ferguson's men came back to beat Sporting Braga 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League and have won their last four Premier League games since the defeat at home to Tottenham.

Having qualified for the knockout stage in Europe's elite competition, United's now aim to stay on top of the table.

Villa midfielder Karim El Ahmadi returns after a one-match ban while Eric Lichaj is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card against Sunderland.

Left-back Enda Stevens is likely to start against United but Darren Bent is doubtful alongwith Charles N'Zogbia and Richard Dunne.

United are still without Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones and Shinji Kagawa while Chris Smalling, who played against Braga on Wednesday, could start in case centre-back Jonny Evans fails to shake off a minor groin injury.

United are favourites to win the tie but Villa could fancy an upset after recent form of strikers in Christian Benteke and Agbonlahor.

Trivia:

*Aston Villa won only their second in 20 matches against Sunderland last time out.

*Manchester Untied are unbeaten in 16 visits to Villa Park, only lost back in 1995.

Probable Lineups:

Aston Villa (4-4-2): Guzan-Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Stevens-Weimann, Delph, El Ahmadi, Bannan-Benteke, Agbonlahor.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea-Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra-Carrick, Cleverley-Valencia, Rooney, Young-Van Persie.
