Mumbai, Oct 17: In the latest development in the molestation case against Raja Mukherjee, Mumbai police on Wednesday, Oct 17 checked text messages on Raja's mobile to gather evidence against him.
43-year-old Raja, elder brother of Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee, has been booked under molestation and kidnap case. Mumbai police hurled charges against Raja under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) when Priya Mishra, a small time television actress-turned-writer, filed a complaint on Sunday.
The investigating officials have been trying to gather evidence against Raja and his mobile SMSes can become one of the major proof against the director and producer.
40-year-old Priya, who wanted to work with Rani in her movie, has been quoted as saying, "Raja told me to meet him and said that if he likes the script and the story he would talk to Rani. We met at the four Bungalow signal. We were going to a coffee shop... took me to a lonely spot at the end of Yari Road."
The complainant informed that when she began to narrate the story, Raja allegedly molested her and also stated that he asked her to "compromise" if she wanted Rani in the film. However, when she overruled Raja's "compromise" proposal and got down from the car, she started receiving SMSes from Raja claiming that he did not mean to molest her.
Following the complaints against him, Raja was sent for a medical test and later was taken into police custody in Versova on Sunday. Later, an Andheri court on Monday granted him bail on a personal security of Rs 10,000.
