Can form new party by Dec end: BSY

Bangalore, Oct 10: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said on Wednesday that he might launch his new party by December end this year. The Lingayat strongman said that he would not continue with the BJP anymore but assured that he would not pull legislators with him leading to a downfall of the Jagadish Shettar government. He also said that he did not need anyone to take up his case with the party's top brass.

Yeddyurappa was also open to the idea of joining hands with other parties, including the JD(S) or the Congress. He said the final call on starting a new party or joining hands with other parties will be taken by the end of December. The veteran leader said that he would get a clear picture of the situation in January and by April, he would be ready to contest the assembly polls without the BJP. However, the name and symbol of the new party in case he launched one, were not yet decided.

When asked if there were other BJP leaders, including ministers, who wanted to join his new venture, Yeddyurappa said those who would join him are welcome to do so ahead of the assembly polls. Saying he will walk out of the BJP alone, a disgruntled BSY said he had his base throughout the state and should not continue in the BJP after the 'humiliation' he faced. He said the party had removed him from the CM's post even though the Lokayukta report did not recommend so.

But why wasn't he quitting the party immediately and waiting till December end? To this, BSY said he was still working on building networks across the state. The state BJP president and Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa, however, said that the former CM would not resign from the party. He said BSY had made such statement earlier also but did not back it in reality.
