Bangalore, Sept 17: The confusion regarding whether Aero India-2013 would be organised or not in Bangalore, has been cleared. The Defence Ministry has confirmed that the 2013 edition of the Aero India will be held in Bangalore. The organisers have already started the registration process for the bi-annual show.
"Earlier this year, there was a proposal to shift the Aero India out from Bangalore to ensure that operations of commercial flights at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) are not affected. During the rehearsals for Aero India, aircraft operations at BIA are normally halted from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 3.30 pm," said a member of the organising committee.
However, the proposal of shifting the show from Bangalore was opposed by the state government. The state government had written to the MoD for retaining the Aero India at its present venue, which had successfully hosted seven air shows since 1996.
Now, all doubts have been put to rest and Bangalore will once again host the show.
The Defence Exhibition Organisation, nodal and co-ordination agency for the Aero India, has opened the registration for exhibitors for the show. The show will be held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bangalore, from Feb 6 to 10.
The organisers say the show will provide a significant platform to bolster business opportunities in the international aviation sector.
Organisers have informed that during the last edition of the show, held in 2011, exhibitors from 29 countries with 675 companies (380 overseas and 295 domestic) and 47 overseas delegations participated.
