New Delhi, Aug 29: RJD chief Lalu Prasad accused BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, also the Leader of the Opposition, of receiving bribes from the Reddy brothers in the Karnataka coal mining scam. Prasad, hitting back at Swaraj after the latter alleged on Monday that the Congress had received mota maal (big money) by allotting coal mines without making any bid, said that the BJP leader was no less corrupt for she had received money from the Reddy brothers in the scam in the BJP-ruled state. Prasad sought a JPC inquiry into the activities of Reddy brothers and their links.
Swaraj counter-alleged by saying that it was the Congress which had made monetary gains from the Reddy brothers. She added that all mining barons from Bellary received their mining leases at the instance of a Congress Chief Minister, although she did not mention any name. She said that all documents related to recommendations and allotments to Reddy brothers should be made public so that the truth gets revealed.
The RJD chief, meanwhile, also slammed the BJP for its protest in the Parliament. He said the Opposition party was disrupting the Parliament for it did not want enaction of a law in favour of promotions for the Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
He said the BJP deliberately started the ruckus after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pledged to bring a bill for reservation in promotions at an all-party meeting. He said the BJP's firm stand on demanding resignation of the PM revealed that it was opposed to Sikhs and minorities. Describing the BJP as a majoritarian fascist, Prasad said the former was planning a communal polarisation ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
