Islamabad, Jun 26: Finally, India received a good news from Pakistan. The president of the country Asif Ali Zardari converted Sarabjeet Singh's death sentence into life imprisonment. Hence, Sarabjeet would soon be released from Pakistan prison.
According to Pakistan media, Law Ministry of Pakistan had sent a proposal for the release of Sarabjeet to the Interior Ministry.
Sarabjeet was convicted of being a spy and was put in prison in Pakistan. Zardari's decision of pardoning the Indian national followed the fifth mercy plea from Sarabjeet seeking clemency.
Sarabjeet will be freed and will be sent to India as he has already spent 22 years in jail and the life sentence term is 20 years.
The decision of releasing Sarabjeet may prove as a breakthrough in Indo-Pak relationship and that too at a time when Abu Jundal reportedly is revealing more information on Pakistan and ISI's alleged roles in Mumbai terror attacks 2008 and several other terror attacks in the country.
