New Delhi, Jun 26: With all eyes on Abu Jundal alias Syed Jabiuddin, the Lashkar-e-Toiba handler who was captured by the Delhi police from the Indira Gandhi International airport, more and more information is emerging on the terror group planning to attack Indian soil and spread fear. The second major capture in the 26/11 attack case after Ajmal Amir Kasab, Jundal's arrest is seen as a major breakthrough and will reveal the missing pieces of the puzzle in the complicated case.
After earlier reports emerged on the role of an Indian in the 26/11 attack case, in all probability the said person could be Abu Jundal who has a whopping 23 aliases. Hailing from Georai area of Beed district, Maharashtra, Jundal's original name is reported to be Syed Zabiuddin Syed Zakiuddin Ansari. He is also called 'Zabi' in his circles and is believed to have fled to Bangladesh and then to Pakistan via Nepal in 2006.
There are also reports claiming that Jundal was deported from Saudi Arabia after his dubious links with terror groups surfaced. With the voice samples sort of matching that of the Jundal, and he confessing to the heinous crime, the heat is definitely on neighbour Pakistan to India's allegation that non-state actors have been utilising Pak soil to perpetrate terror against India.
The tape excerpts available with investigative agencies reveal how Jundal conspired to carry out the deadly 26/11 attacks. He is understood to be the brain behind training the LeT recruits in Hindi and giving out instructions to the attackers in his Karachi control room while the 26/11 attacks were taking place. Jundal has been on the run since 2006 and is also reported to have been working as a teacher in Saudi Arabia.
The telephone excerpts that is believed to be of Jundal's show him as saying, "Hukumat ye jaan le yeh trailer hai, asal film baaqi hai" (Let the administration realize that this is just a trailer; the real film remains to be played out). He had also instructed the attackers to not reveal their Pakistani identity and in case of inquiry to only say that they hailed from the predominantly Muslim-area of Tolichowki in Hyderabad.
Among his aliases include Abu Jindal, Sayed Zaibuddin Ansari, Jabi Ansari, Shahrukh and Imran. Kasab, in an earlier statement, said that a person named Abu Jindal was the terror group's trainer and is supposed to be the LeT's head of 'India operations'.
