New Delhi, Jun 6: In a huge setback to Congress, NCP leader Sharad Pawar extended his support to yoga guru Baba Ramdev in his fight to bring back black money stashed abroad.
"He (Baba Ramdev) has taken up the issue of black money. Till the money stashed away in foreign countries does not come out, there is no chance of eradicating poverty from the country," Pawar said.
"The money flowing back to India would help in reducing the prices of petrol and diesel," said Baba Ramdev after meeting Sharad Yadav.
Pawar's support to Baba Ramdev's campaign is likely to add to Congress Party's woes as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi hit back at the civil society for levelling allegations against the Prime Minister. Pawar's support to Ramdev is also seen as a setback to Pawar's enemy Hazare, who had a fallout with Ramdev over differences of opinion.
"He (Ramdev) has said he will meet responsible leaders in all the states and important persons who take key decisions. He has done one good thing that he has not spoken of any one party. He has talked about all parties and we liked this approach," said Pawar.
UPA ally Sharad Pawar is among the 15 named ministers against whom the charges of corruption are levelled by Team Anna.
"When this hidden money will come out, it will benefit all and help change the life of the common man," Pawar said.
He further said that he had met the yoga guru 5-6 years back at his hometown Baramati, where he conducted a yoga shivir. He said that his charisma to impress and influence his audience impressed him.
