New Delhi, Mar 7: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday, Mar 6 accepted the resignation of Congress legislator Tarvinder Singh Marwah following the allegations slapped against him for submitting forged documents of his daughter to Delhi University.
Marwah resigned from the post of Parliamentary Secretary after being accused in the admission fraud case.
In a complaint, Principal Kawar Jit Kaur stated that the academic documents submitted by Marwah alone with an admission request were forged.
”I came to know of this today morning and spoke to him immediately over the phone. He explained his stand but also offered to resign, which I accepted,” Dikshit said.
Dikshit told the reporters that she spoke to Marwah on Tuesday morning after reading an allegation story against him.
A cheating and forgery case have been registered at the IP Estate police station by the Delhi Police, a senior police officer reported.
"Despite a number of reminders, they (Marwah) have failed to give any explanation. I am convinced that the certificates are forged, as reported by the Madhya Pradesh State Open School," cited the complaint.
During the routine verification, the fraud came into light. S Tejwant Singh, chairman of college's governing body said, "We have referred the matter to the police as well as Delhi University administration."
