K'taka: BSY to resign from politics?

Bangalore, Feb 27: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa on Monday, Feb 27 announced that he would not ask his party - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for any position. Citing Yeddyurappa's statement on his birthday, many started speculating - is Yeddyurappa hinting to take sanyas (resign) from politics? However, BJP might be relieved after knowing the former Karnataka CM's intention.

"Nitin Gadkari promised that DV Sadananda Gowda was a temporary chief minister and that he would make me the chief minister again at an appropriate time. It led to all kinds of speculation in Karnataka. I have now decided not to demand any position in the party in future," said Yeddyurappa.

Yeddyurappa's statement clearly showed his disappointment with the party which seems to have snubbed Yeddyurappa who has been asking BJP to re-appoint him (BSY) as the Karnataka CM. BJP President Nitin Gadkari, had recently visited Bangalore and announced that Yeddyurappa's successor - Mr Gowda will remain the CM.

However, sources also reported that the state BJP has decided to give him (BSY) the position of election campaign committee chairman. The decision may give some relief to BSY and his loyalists.
