Lucknow, Feb 25: Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of shielding her close aide Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Congress has demanded his dismissal and inquiry against Mayawati's brother Anand Kumar.
Talking to journalists, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief spokesperson Ram Kumar Bhargava said that Naseemuddin Siddiqui is only a small component.
During Mayawati's regime, she had ordered a house in Noida which was allotted to Anand on a priority basis, he alleged. Bhargava said that "At that time, Anand was shown in the records as a carpenter working in Noida. Therefore it needs to be probed how a modest carpenter could amass properties worth thousand of crores of rupees just in the span of a few years."
Slamming Anand, the Congress leader said that his family was allegedly running over 16 bogus companies in Noida. "These units were set up for the purpose of money laundering and Mayawati stands totally exposed before the public after these facts were brought to notice," he said.
"Mayawati had two fund collectors - Babu Singh Kushwaha and Naseemuddin Siddiqui. Both have been pronounced guilty of rampant corruption and swindling during their tenure as ministers. What is needed now is a proper investigation to establish the identity of the beneficiaries of the shady deals struck by the duo. And, the trail would certainly lead to Mayawati," he added.
