Lucknow, Feb 21: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati's party BSP started airing television advertisement on Monday, Feb 20 for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections in a different tone to get her message across the people in the state.
The advertisement sings praise of Mayawati and begins with a young girl who thanks Maya for bringing up the quality of education, giving students equal opportunities and keeping a tab on education mafia in the state. [Read More: Uttar Pradesh assembly election 2012]
It then shows a housewife sending the girl to college saying, "Ab hum din ho ya raat, bina kisi chinta ke aa ja sakte hain, koi chhedkhani ka dar nahi. Dhanyawad Behenji (We can venture out be it day or night without any fear. Thank you Behenji)."
The advertisement also throws light on the minority community in the state and shows a Muslim youth thanking Mayawati for providing a secure atmosphere to minorities, as reported by the Times of India.
Mayawati's advertisement campaign earlier focused on listing out the number of services Mayawati government had done for the marginalised people, dalits and the memorials she built. The advertisement focused on the justice meted out by the Mayawati government. But after witnessing the rising popularity of the SP, BSP decided to shift focus by not bringing to light what Mayawati did wrong during her regime.
"I think Mayawati has taken a lesson from SP. The SP election campaign this time has been positive. Their leaders have not made any negative comment against any personality," said Deepak Kabir, a social activist.
