Maldives, Feb 7: Maldives President Mohammad Nasheed resigned amid protests, said the Military.

Reports reveal that there was allegedly a coup-bid in Maldives and clash between the police and Army and have taken over the state broadcaster.

The coup attempt was allegedly by the opposition demonstrators and the police.

However, official sources refuted reports that the President resigned.

Mohammad Nasheed came to power in 2008. Reports also reveal that the President remains in control of the army.
