Rae Bareli/Amethi, Jan 27: Priyanaka Gandhi, daughter of Congress President, Sonia Gandhi and later Rajiv Gandhi has become a favorite of the locals in Rae Bareli, Amethi who expressed their desire that she may her foray into politics soon.

"We like Priyanka Gandhi more than Rahul. When she gets down from her car and walks towards the people, you feel Indira Gandhi - in her 'Ma Durga' avatar - is standing in front of you."

"She is the real inheritor of her grandmother and her father Rajiv Gandhi's legacy. She should definitely enter politics," said Ghanshyam Pathak, a local shopkeeper who is related with the Congress for decades.

He also recollected the time during Indira Gandhi's leadership in the Congress Party.

Though the locals are supporters of the first family of Congress, they have favoured the fact that Priyanka holds the aura and charm and an able person in the Nehru-Gandhi kin. Her connection with the poor, especially women have made her a favourite in the public.

"She can contest from her in-laws place- Moradabad or any constituency in that region. Once she enters politics, Samajwadi Party and BSP will be decimated," said Pathak, his affection for her overtaking his reasoning.

Priyanka had campaigned in Rae Bareli earlier this month in support of AICC General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi.
