Karnataka budget presentation on March 9th

Hubli, Jan 27: Karnataka's 2012-13 annual budget proposals will presented to the state assembly on March nine, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said on Friday. Speaking to reporters on his arrival to attend a function here he said preparations for budget presentation were on.

Gowda, who would be presenting his first ever budget as Finance Minister sought to spike rumours over change of guard in the state and asserted "I will be presenting the budget on March nine. Nobody should have (any) doubt over it".

Gowda's predecessor B S Yeddyurappa has been reportedly making efforts to stage a comeback as chief minister, a post which he was forced to demit office on July 31 last after BJP central leadership axed him following his indictment by a Lokayukta report on illegal mining. Yeddyurappa has been mounting pressure on the BJP leadership and also his supporters for a 'suitable position' in the party.

Bangalore, Jan 17: Amid the controversy over the issue of appointment of Lokayukta by the Governor in Gujarat, Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj said he cannot name the new anti-corruption ombudsman in the state without the government's approval. I'm not resistant to political pressure: DV Sadananada Gowda

Mangalore, Jan 18: Chief Minister DV Sadananada Gowda on Tuesday accepted that while transferring officials from one position to another, he gave in to political pressure. While speaking to the media, he said that he had a list of transfer request but he didn't work on it. He accepted that he was not immune to political pressure and reteriated that he had kept political transfers to a bare minimum.Replying on the officials transfer, he said that they should work freely without any.....

Cabinet clears Rs 27,000 cr for Bangalore metro phase-II

Bangalore, Jan 3: Karnataka government gave its green signal to take up second phase of Bangalore metro project of 72 kms at an investment of about Rs 27,000 crore. Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the second phase is planned to be completed by 2017.The first phase of about 42 kms is slated to be completed by next year-end. Higher Education Minister V S Acharya said the Cabinet.....

Karnataka declares 3-day mourning after S Bangarappa's death

Bangalore, Dec 26: The Karnataka government declared a holiday today and a three-day mourning as a mark of respect to former Chief Minister S Bangarappa, who died early this morning at a private hospital here.Speaking to reporters after paying floral tributes to the departed leader, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda today said that the last rites would be performed at Bangarappa's native village Kabatur in Shimoga district tomorrow with full state honours."The government has declared a holiday in Shimoga district tomorrow also.....
