Rupee gains 8 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Jan 23: The rupee rose by 8 paise to Rs 50.23 per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Monday on dollar selling by exporters. Dealers said selling of dollars by exporters and euro's gain against the US currency in overseas markets strengthened the rupee. However, weak equity market capped the gains.

The rupee weakened by six paise to close at Rs 50.31/32 per US dollar in the previous session on Friday on fresh dollar demand from importers. Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex was down by 79.69 at 16,659.32 in early trade.

Gold, silver fall on global cues

Mumbai, Jan 20: Gold and silver prices fell at the bullion market here on Thursday on profit selling by stockists and investors amid subdued jewellery demand on the back of lower overseas cues. Standard gold of 99.5 per cent purity declined by Rs 185 to end at Rs 27,245 per 10 grams from Thursday's closing level of Rs 27,430. Pure gold of 99.9 per cent purity also dropped by a similar margin of Rs 185 to finish.....

Rupee gains 5 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Jan 20: The rupee on Friday rose marginally by 5 paise to trade at a fresh over two-month high of Rs 50.20 per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange. Dealers said increased foreign capital inflows in the Indian market in tandem with weakening of dollar against the euro in the overseas markets after successful bond sale in Spain and France, mainly provided support to the rupee. The rupee had surged by 13.....
