Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, Jan 23: It seems that the NRHM scam is getting dirty day by day as a key official - the project manager Sunil Verma shot himself in Lucknow on Monday, Jan 23. Verma was rushed to a near by hospital but he was declared dead at his arrival. Verma committed suicide on Monday and his death shocked many and left many questions behind. Verma was associated with the construction and design division of Uttar Pradesh government.

However, sources earlier had reported that the CBI would question more government officials regarding the scam. Former director general (Family Welfare) RR Bharti, UP Processing & Construction Co-Operative Federation Ltd MD VK Chowdhry and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd MD Devendra Mohan - are few of the officials who might be quizzed by the investigative agency.

Meanwhile, sources also reported that based on the CAG's status report, the CBI soon will submit their report to the governor of Uttar Pradesh. But Verma's death once again raised finger at Mayawati's government which has been facing tremendous criticism over the scam.

Lucknow Range DIG DK Thakur said, "Sunil Verma shot himself dead today morning. He was interrogated by the CBI on January 4. The incident happened at Sunil Verma's residence at around 8:30 AM in the morning. Sunil Verma's son told the police about the incident. We are carrying out our Investigation.
