CWG scam accused Suresh Kalmadi granted bail

New Delhi, Jan 19: Sacked CWG chairman, Suresh Kalmadi has been granted bail on a surety of Rs 5 lakh by the Delhi High Court.Apart from Kalmadi, K Verma, Former Director General of CWG Organising Committee has also been granted bail.

Reports reveal that he will leave the jail by today evening or tomorrow morning.

Kalmadi was arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in the irregularities carried out during the 2010 Commonwealth Games which was organised for the first time in India.

Allegations against him also include irregularities in hiring AM Car, AM Films and and Van Hire Limited during the Queen's Baton Relay in 2009.

CWG scam: HC issues notice to CBI on Kalmadi's bail plea

New Delhi, Nov 30: The Delhi High Court Wednesday sought the CBI's response on the bail plea of sacked CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi in a Games-related scam case, who cited the Supreme Court ruling that bail should be the rule and jail an exception.

Justice Mukta Gupta issued notice to the probe agency and sought its reply on Kalmadi's bail plea by January 6.
