Bangalore, Jan 18: India's one of the IT giants - Infosys seems to have landed in a war with Mysore businessmen when the hoteliers in Mysore accused Infosys of violating accommodation norms and hurting their business interests in the city.

The controversy began over an upcoming conference which would be organised at the Mysore training centre of Infosys. The conference will be organised by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from Jul 14. ISRO reportedly is charging Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 for single and double occupancy rooms in the campus.

Meanwhile, S Sathish, a hotelier and former mayor has been quoted as saying, "We (hoteliers) have obtained hotel licenses after paying the necessary fees. We pay luxury tax, service tax, VAT, and local body levies to run the business. But an IT company, without paying any such taxes, is using its facility as a hotel."

However, denying to clarify the amount of charging for accommodation, Infosys spokesperson said, "We would like to reiterate that the facility offered is available only to participants of the conference and Infosys is not charging any rentals but may recover a maintenance fee from ISRO for using our facility."
