London, Jan 17: Muhammad Ali, the three-time world boxing champion on Tuesday, Jan 17 celebrates his 70th birthday at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
The boxing great who was born as Cassius Clay on 17 Jan 1941 won over 56 bouts over a 21 year career. In 1960, he won his first Olympic light-heavyweight gold. In 1964, the boxing legend beat Sonny Liston to be crowned world heavyweight champion.
Despite beating Sonny Liston to become world heavyweight champion at just 22, he was objurgated when he revealed he had converted to Islam and changed his name from Cassius Clay Junior - what he called his slave name - to Muhammad Ali.
In 1981, he retired from boxing after suffering losses to Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick but by then his legacy was secured. Soon after retirement from his boxing carrier, he was Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. The world's boxing fraternity always consider him as one of the greatest legends in Boxing.
