Yahoo gets new CEO - Scott Thompson

New York, Jan 5: Global Internet giant Yahoo has a new boss. Former PayPal President Scott Thompson has been named the new Chief Executive of Yahoo on Wednesday. The news comes after Carol Bartz was sacked from the post for failing to deliver in her turnaround effort.

After rumours were doing the rounds that the company was welcoming potential buyers, Yahoo in a statement said that Thompson would focus on Yahoo's core business and work with the board to 'identify the best approaches for the company and its shareholders'.

Chairman Roy Bostock in a statement added, "Scott brings to Yahoo a proven record of building on a solid foundation of existing assets and resources to reignite innovation and drive growth, precisely the formula we need at Yahoo. His deep understanding of online businesses combined with his team building and operational capabilities will restore the energy, focus, and momentum necessary to grow the core business and deliver increased value for our shareholders."Bostock further added, "Yahoo is considering a wide range of opportunities for the company's business, as well as specific investments or dispositions of assets."

Yahoo joins ABC News in online news partnership

London, Oct 4: ABC News and Yahoo Inc are partnering to disseminate more news to their users. With this deal, ABC News content will be featured on Yahoo News.

ABC and Yahoo will also work together to sell online advertising. The two companies have a combined online visitors of more than 100 million each month in US.

The partnership kickstarted with the debut of GoodMorningAmerica.Com on Yahoo and three new online-first audio-video series with ABC news correspondents and anchors.

An F-word that cost $10 million for fired Yahoo CEO

London, Sept 11: With rumours rife on the fate of popular website Yahoo!, this was one piece opf news that the recently-fired Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz did not wanted to be associated with. After Bartz was fired dramatically over the phone, she is in further soup for her lamabasts against the company board and for using the F*** word. For this very act, she is expected to lose $10 million for violating a non-disparagement clause.
