Lucknow, Dec 31: The Chief Minister of a state that has been hit by corruption, rapes, and many other crimes woke up to an alarm by the Election Commission that sounded the dates for assembly election.
Since then CM Mayawati, is putting in efforts to deal image crisis with assembly elections just a few months away. In the process, she had axed many key cadres of BSP, who held corruption, and other public complaints against them.
CM Mayawati has taken the sacked ministers toll to 21 by doing away with four more ministers.
According to reports, there are few more ministers to follow the suit. As many as 13 minister are under Lokayukta radar. However, how much this has had worked for CM Mayawati, only UP poll results can tell.
On Friday, Mayawati sacked Fateh Bahadur Singh, Anees Ahmed Khan, Sajil Islam Ansari and Sadal Prasad from her Cabinet.
This is Mayawati's Operation Clean UP and, however, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has summed up it as a "pre-poll drama".
Anna Hazare has said that he will campaign against the Congress in poll-bound state, wherein Uttar Pradesh election falls in the line. Will he now take a voice against CM Mayawati too? After all, even BSP is smitten with corruption charges.
