Rupee loses 32 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Dec 22: The rupee fell by 32 paise to trade at Rs 52.82 per dollar today as the US currency firmed against euro and other rivals overseas. A weak opening in the domestic equity markets also impacted the rupee sentiment, dealers.

Dollar gains against euro and other currencies overseas on doubts about solving the euro zone debt crisis too weighed on the rupee, they added. The rupee had gained 37 paise to close at more than one-week high of Rs 52.50/51 per US dollar yesterday following a sharp rebound in domestic stocks.

Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex was down by 193.41 points, or 1.23 per cent, at 15,491.80 in opening trade today.

Rupee down by 11 paise against US dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Dec 20: The Indian rupee fell by 11 paise to Rs 52.97 per US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today (Dec 20) amid increased demand for the American currency from importers and strengthening of the dollar against the euro overseas. However, a higher opening in the equity market capped the rupee losses. Dealers said apart from dollar gains against the euro -- which dipped to a 11-month low amid a debt crisis.....
