Bellary, Nov 26: The BJP has suspended two MPs, J Shantha and Sanna Fakirappa and slapped notices on four legislators for supporting BJP leader B Sriramulu.
Shantha is the sister of Sriramulu and she represents the Bellary Lok Sabha constituency whereas Sanna Fakirappa represents Raichur.
Action has been taken against G Somashekara Reddy, mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, B Nagendra, H T Suresh Babu and Mruthyunjaya Jinaga as these legislators are actively campaigning for Sriramulu for the upcoming Bellary rural assembly bypoll where Sriramulu is contesting as an independent candidate.
K S Eshwarappa, state BJP president told the media, "I have asked the legislators to reply to the notices within three days, failing which they would be expelled from the party's primary membership." The step has been taken to prevent the party members from campaigning for Sriramulu.
Somashekara Reddy stated that they would not stop campaigning for Sriramulu and challenged the party president to expel them.
Meanwhile, Sriramulu claimed that BJP is desperate as the party was staring at the defeat of its candidate and vowed to "wipe out" the saffron party's base in the district. "I will decimate the BJP from the grassroot level in Bellary district, as I eliminated the Congress. The BJP should know it's me and Janardhana Reddy who are responsible for the BJP's growth in Bellary," he said.
