Facebook users hit by hardcore porn attack

San Francisco, Nov 16: Thousands of Facebook users have been complaining about explicit, pornographic and violent images flooding their news feeds in the last 24 hours.

Reacting to the issue, Facebook Inc said that they are investigating and addressing the issue. The content includes hardcore porn images and morphed images. In recent days, countless Facebook Users have reported similar problems.

"We have recently experienced an increase in reports and we are investigating and addressing the issue," Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes said in a statement e-mailed to Reuters. He further said that, "Our efforts have drastically limited the damage caused by this attack, and we are now in the process of investigating to identify those responsible."

In an interview with Reuters, Andrew Noyes said that Facebook does not know yet who was behind the attack and the motive was not clear.Facebook and other "Web 2.0" sites are easy targets for such attacks because they pull in a lot of content from outside sources, said Paul Ferguson, senior threat researcher at Trend Micro Inc.
