Farroq Abdullah
Srinagar, Nov 11: Omar Abdullah's father and former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah asked his brother, Mustafa Kamal to submit his resignation over his (Kamal's) controversial statement on Rahul Gandhi.

Kamal, who is the spokesperson as well as the General Secretary of the party, resigned from both posts as he stated, "I had only said Rahul Gandhi is a great leader and he has no role in the affairs of governance in the state."

Explaining his situation, Kamal also added, "I have made some innocuous and harmless remarks. I have now stepped down from both the posts. Perhaps I failed."

Supporting his decision, the National Conference President, Abdullah said, "Kamal had been advised to exercise restraint and follow the party policy line on all issues, particularly those pertaining to the policies of the coalition government, relationship with the Congress party, AFSPA and the role of the army."
