New Delhi, Nov 7: Sushil Kumar, who caught nation-wide attention and became a star overnight after winning Rs 5 crore in the TV reality game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) is likely to endorse the national rural job guarantee scheme.
According to sources, Union Ministry for Rural Development led by Jairam Ramesh is all set to approach Sushil Kumar to become the brand ambassador of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).
NREGA promises to give 100 days of employment in every financial year with Rs 120 per day to the people in the rural areas of the country.
Sources claimed that Sushil Kumar would be the best choice as the endorser of NREGA as his background and struggle of life would create more impact than any other celebrity.
Sushil Kumar, who belongs to a poor family in Bihar, could not even afford to buy a TV on his own. However, he has managed to educate himself and his knowledge and wisdom helped him to win such a huge amount that he became the real Slumdog Millionaire.
Here it can be recalled that there was a threat to Sushil Kumar that he could be abducted over his money. Though, the officials in the state have dismissed such threats to the star.
