Survey says million children addicted to facebook

London, Nov 4: According to a recent survey, over 1 million children aged between 7-12 years have become addicted to Facebook, the most popular social networking site. These million children opens the site at least once a day.

According to Sun newspaper reports, nearly 970,000 children regularly enter the site and has made it a part of their daily lives. Around 46% children use the site occasionally and girls mostly use the site.

After Facebook, Twitter and Club Penguin are the most popular social networking sites. Less than 10 percent children use Twitter and Club Penguin.

Around two-thirds of children use social networking sites because their friends do. Peer pressure is the key motivation for using the site, says experts.

Ina Mitskavets, author of the "Children's Lifestyles" was quoted as saying, "Today's children are well versed in all aspects of the internet, with almost a million children aged seven to 12 using Facebook -- highlighting just how popular the site has become."

Facebook prevents 600,000 attempts everyday by hackers

London, Oct 30: Facebook, social networking site said that it prevents atleast 600,000 attempts everyday by hackers who try to break into user accounts, with stolen passwords and usernames, said the Daily Mail.Hackers also try to steal user information, send bogus offers, spread fraud, malicious messages and also try to sell forge goods to the members' friends.
