Google Maps service to charge websites for heavy usage

London, Nov 2: World's Internet search giant, Google Inc will cahrges websites that use its maps service if they exceeds the daily limit of 25,000 hits. According to BBC reports, from Jan, 2012 the google will charge those websites for 'heavy usage' of its service.

Google maps API service is mostly using by travel firms to link customers to a view of the destinations they inquire about.

"We understand that the introduction of these limits may be concerning," said Thor Mitchell, product manager of the Maps API at Google.

"However, with the continued growth in adoption of the Maps API, we need to secure its long-term future by ensuring that even when used by the highest-volume for-profit sites, the service remains viable," he added.

YouTube to launch entertainment channels; ropes in big names

New York, Oct 31: Popular video playing site YouTube is making its foray into original programming and is planning big in its entertainment venture with as many as 100 content creators, ranging from Madonna to the Wall Street Journal. Google team to visit Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, Oct 28: An eight member team from Google headquarters in the US will visit Kashmir Valley next week to interact with students, IT professionals and amateurs here.
