Facebook prevents 600,000 attempts everyday by hackers

London, Oct 30: Facebook, social networking site said that it prevents atleast 600,000 attempts everyday by hackers who try to break into user accounts, with stolen passwords and usernames, said the Daily Mail.

Hackers also try to steal user information, send bogus offers, spread fraud, malicious messages and also try to sell forge goods to the members' friends.

A security announcement was also issued by Facebook recently that promoted its new "Trusted Friends" password restoration technique.

"At least 600,000 times a day, we stop a bad guy from getting access to an account even though he has guessed, phished, or stolen the login and password of an account. This is something we're very proud of," said Facebook spokesman, Barry Schnitt.
