Not Taj Mahal but Mysore palace in world's MUST VISIT list !

Bangalore, Oct 27: Mysore palace of Karnataka grabbed a rank in the list of 31 "Must Visit" places by New York Times. What surprises many is - Taj Mahal, which is one of the seven wonders of the world, failed to find a place in the list.

According to sources, an average of 2.5 million tourists visit Mysore palace every year from all over the world. Meanwhile, a senior official from tourist department said, "Hardly does the Mysore Palace or the city get left out of a tour itinerary involving either Karnataka or south India."

The recent development indeed enhanced the pride of all Indians. However, sources also informed that nearly 2 to 3 million visitors come to the Taj Mahal annually, and nearly a quarter million arrive from overseas.

Here it can be recalled that a rumour recently hit the reputation of the 358-year-old monument stating that it (Taj Mahal) will collapse within less than five years.Last year, some cracks appeared at parts of the tomb following which the four minarets surrounded the mausoleum are leaning.

Ram Sene activists attack pub in Mysore

Bangalore, Aug 16: After attack at a pub in Mangalore on Jan 24, 2009, now the Sri Rama Sene (SRS) activists targeted a Mysore pub on Saturday, Aug 14, though the pub had a licence from the police to remain open till midnight.According to Basavaraj Malagatti, deputy commissioner of police, Mysore, nearly 10 member gang comprising SRS activists attacked Hotel Adi Manor, a pub-cum-restaurant in Lashkar area of Mysore, where about 100 customers, including a few foreigners, were enjoying the Saturday.....

Four wild elephants stormed into Mysore city

Mysore, June 8: Four young elephants entered the Mysore city on a rampage, killing one and injuring few others.The two jumbos from the nearby jungles, stormed into Bamboo Bazaar of Mysore at around 6 am. They created a panic and disaster all around the city. It trampled a security guard to death. The victim's name was Renuka Prasad, a 55-year-old resident of Bamboo Bazar in the old city. It also fought with a cow and injured it too.While one.....
